HURON – City officials will host an open house Friday so the public can tour the existing street, traffic and water-sewer maintenance shops and learn about the proposal to build a new facility in the West Industrial Park.
The open house will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the street and traffic shop at First Street and Colorado Avenue Southwest and the water-sewer shop at 215 Market St. S.W.
The city is planning to build a new $5.5 million shop with funds from reserves and money from the second penny sales tax that has accumulated in a special fund for the project since 2009.
Department heads and members of the City Commission are hosting the open house to offer tours of the existing facilities and to explain the need for the new one to be built at Third Street and U Avenue.
