WEBSTER — With four runners inside the top 25, the Clark/Willow Lake boys’ cross country team won the title at the Webster Area Invite on Monday at the Webster Golf Course.
The Cyclones finished with 29 points to give them a margin of six points over second-placed Northwestern. Estelline/Hendricks was third at 40, followed by Webster Area at 56, Tri-State at 66 and Iroquois/Doland at 105.
Brady Jordan was seventh with a time of 19:03.72 to lead Clark/Willow Lake, while Tyler O’Neill was 10th at 19:22.62. Gunnar Kvistad and Cooper Pommer claimed spots No. 18 and 21, respectively, for the Cylcones with times of 20:37.88 and 20:54.85.
Daniel Ayoroa of James Valley Christian was the top area runners in the field, finishing fifth with a time of 18:48.11.
JVC also had three of the 20 runners in the girls’ varsity race, but didn’t have a fourth runner to qualify for a team score.
Abby Hasart led the Lady Vikings with a time of 22:27.88 to finish seventh. Rhayonna Hood was 14th at 23:20.46 and AbbyKate Hamilton was 17th at 23:29.84.
Danielle Batchelor of Clark/Willow Lake was 10th at 22:47.88, while teammate Alicia Vig was 19th at 24.13.90.
Avery Miles of Iroquois/Doland was 12th with a time of 23:09.24.
Estelline/Hendricks won the girls’ varsity title with 28 points, while Aberdeen Christian was second at 36. Webster Area was third at 45, followed by Deubrook Area at 51 and Clark/Willow Lake at 56.
Hitchcock-Tulare edged Iroquois/Doland for the team title in the girls’ junior varsity standings by five points.
Cambree Hoekman and Bethany Wiebe were sixth and sixth, respectively, with times of 17:52.62 and 17:55.78 for the Lady Patriots. Regan Lutter was ninth at 18:06.28, while Jessica Godfrey was 15th at 19:09.23.
Aleisha Naze of Clark/Willow Lake won the girls’ JV race in 15:46.08, while Shelby Pekron of Iroquois/Doland was second at 16:23.80 and Andie Aughenbaugh of JVC was third at 16:37.12.
Clark/Willow Lake finished second to Northwestern in the JV boys’ standings.
