Class A boys win two at 3-Class Shootout

SALEM — The Class A boys won a pair of games during the 3-Class Shootout, which was held Saturday.
Noah Freidel of Tea Area had 42 points, four rebounds and four assists to lead the Class A boys to a 124-118 victory against Class B in the opening game of the event.
Justin Hohn of Tea Area had 20 points, six rebounds and eight assists for Class A, while Karst Hunter of Miller had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Sawyer Schultz of Bridgewater-Emery had 23 points, nine rebounds and eight assists to lead the Class B team.  He was named as the game’s MVP.
Trey King of Irene-Wakonda had 29 points and three rebounds for Class B, while Trevin Holland of De Smet had 18 points and Micah Burke of Clark-Willow Lake had 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Class A boys then needed double overtime to get past the Class AA team 123-121.

Freidel, who was named as the game’s MVP had 29 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Class A. Hohn and Hunter added 25 and 22 points, respectively, while Mitch Goodbary of Sioux Falls Christian had 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Nick Hoyt of Harrisburg was named as the MVP for the Class AA team. He had 26 points, four rebounds and four assists. Solomon Bach of Watertown had 24 points, while Dylan Pourier of Rapid City Stevens had 24 points and four rebounds.
Freidel was also the winner of the dunk contest, which was held in between the two boys’ games.

Girls
The Class AA girls recorded a 71-56 win against the Class A girls.
Tess Limberg of Mitchell had 13 points and five rebounds for the Class AA girls. Jen Ugofsky of Harrisburg had 11 points and 16 rebounds, while Awoti Akoi of Sioux Falls O’Gorman had 11 points and seven rebounds.
Raelin Jurgens of Parker had 13 points and seven rebounds to be named the MVP for the Class A team.
Riley Peters of Lennox had nine points, two rebounds and two assists, while Raven Cournoyer of Todd County had eight points and six assists and Megan Madsen of West Central had eight points, four rebounds and four assists.
The Class B girls edged the Class AA girls 71-67 in the second game.
Lauren Sees of Avon earned MVP honors for Class B with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists. Mattilynn Reiner of Tripp-Delmont/Armour had 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Laurie Rogers of Warner had 13 points and seven rebounds.
Ugofsky led the Class AA team with 16 points, 12 rebounds and three assists to earn the MVP honors. Danica Kocer of Brandon Valley had 15 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Mackenzie Miller of Mitchell had seven points and nine rebounds.
