Cletus Joseph Stemper, 86, of Zell

ZELL — Cletus Joseph Stemper, 86, of Zell, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017, at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 23, at St. Mary’s Chapel in Zell. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Zell. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Family will be present  to accept condolences beginning at 6 p.m.  A Scriptural Prayer Service and Rosary will begin at 7 p.m.  
Cletus Joseph Stemper was born July 3, 1931, in Zell to Peter and Anna (Jandel) Stemper. He proudly served with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was united in marriage to Maxine Appel October 28, 1954. Farming is what he loved and he spent his life working the land. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.  
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; children, Kathi (Roger) Anderson of Chamberlain, Bill (Tamara) Stemper of Redfield, Dennis (Jacki) Stemper of Zell, Dorrine (Steve) Ellenson of Brule, Wisc., Peter (Jean) Stemper of Madison, and Nancy (Bruce) Blume of Redfield; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marge Aanenson of Glendale, Ariz., and Leota (Clifford) Jackson of Rockham; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Vitalis and Joy Stemper.
