Haber earns LifeServe Blood Center scholarship
HURON — LifeServe Blood Center announces that Hailey Haber, a 2018 graduate of Huron High School, reached the goal at her scholarship blood drive held June 8, and she will receive a $500 college scholarship!
At Haber’s scholarship blood drive, 44 donors registered and 38 life-saving units were donated. Thank you to everyone that came out to help!  The units donated at the blood drive helped save the lives of up to 114 hospital patients! 
LifeServe Blood Center works with high school students and graduates during the summer months to host scholarship blood drives to help students reach their education goals and help boost the summer blood supply.

McNutt graduates from AMDA
DOLAND — Jamez Michael McNutt was one of 146 spring graduates of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy on June 2 in Los Angeles, Calif.
He is the son of Glenda and Jamie McNutt of rural Doland; and the grandson of Charlene and Rolland Barrie of Turton, Harlan and Diane Erickson of Doland and Mike and Sandy McNutt of Huron.
AMDA provides rigorous, performance-based training and an industry-focused education experience; one that inspires excellence and prepares artists with an appreciation for the universal power of transformation through art.

Yale student earns NWC degree
ORANGE CITY, Iowa—Nathan Wedel of Yale was among 258 graduates to receive bachelor’s degrees at Northwestern College’s commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 12. Dr. Beverly DeVries, a Northwestern College alumna and professor emerita of education at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla., gave the commencement address.
Wedel graduated with a major in business administration/agri-business from Northwestern College. He is the son of Bradley and Helene Wedel of Yale.

Huron student named to spring Deans’ List at Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. — Jazmin Newton of Huron has been named to the Deans’ List/Explore Center List of Distinguished Students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the spring semester of the 2017-18 academic year. Newton, a junior biological sciences major, was named to the Dean’s List for the College of Arts and Sciences.
