A semi tractor/trailer combination collided with a Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern (RCPE) Railroad train Tuesday morning east of Cavour, causing the derailment of several train cars and severe damage to the semi tractor and trailer. The semi driver, who was reportedly thrown from the cab of the truck, sustained bumps and bruises.

The accident is being investigated by the S.D. Highway Patrol and by RCPE.
