REDFIELD — Conrad W. Bicknese, 93, of Redfield, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 28, at the Frankfort United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery at Frankfort. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. A prayer service with Masonic Rites will begin at 7 p.m.
Conrad was born July 12, 1924, in Frankfort, to Fred and Emma (Conrad) Bicknese. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1942, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated from Northern State Teacher’s College with a master’s degree in secondary education and administration. He worked with the Bureau of Indian Affairs until March of 1981. He was united in marriage to Donna Lou Nicholas in 1950. He was a member of the Redfield Masonic Lodge #34, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his children, Danny G. (Karlan) Bicknese of Frankfort, David C. (Judy) Bicknese of Riverdale, N.D., Carol L. Bicknese of Redfield, and Colleen M. (Allen Jr.) McKiver of Groton; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; five brothers; and five sisters.
