LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Corey R. Zieske, 32, of Los Angeles, Calif. and formerly of Huron, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, December 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. with a time of sharing to begin at 2 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. A private family Mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date.
Corey Robert Zieske was born on May 21, 1986, in Sioux Falls, to Peggy (Bergstrom) Martinson and Rick Zieske. Corey was baptized and confirmed in St Martin’s Catholic Church.  He attended St. Martin’s Catholic School, Huron Middle School and Huron High School where he graduated in 2004.  He worked a year at Rocket Lube in Huron before leaving to attend South Dakota State University in Brookings. Corey spent many years in Brookings and worked at Western Watts, Subway for 6 years, Falcon Plastics, Sterling Technology and Larson Doors. After moving, he worked at Bagel Boy and briefly at Laguna Star Bowling & Entertainment in California. He spent much of his time in his programs and attending meetings where he was involved in NA/AA.
One of Corey’s biggest passions was music, the history and the musicians from the time he was one-year old when he’d turn on the stereo and dance. He always was an avid reader from the time he was a young boy and his books went everywhere with him. Corey loved to go hiking, meditating, and spending time at the beach. Corey had a deep special love for all his friends and family and got excited when any of them came to visit him in California. He also had a very deep place in his heart for animals, especially dogs.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his parents, Peggy and Glenn Martinson, and his father, Rick Zieske and his wife, Sue all of Huron; his stepbrother, Tyler Zieske of Denver, Colo.; his grandmothers, Peggy Zieske of Huron, and Marie Martinson of Dell Rapids; his niece and nephew, Haylie and David Zieske of Harrisburg; his special aunt Sandy and uncle Jim Jungemann of Huron; uncles Mike (Karen) Bergstrom of Sioux Falls, Tony (Bonnie) Bergstrom of Aberdeen, Scott (Tonna) Zieske of Rapid City; and many, many cousins.
Corey was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Nick in 2014; his grandfathers, Nels Bergstrom, Robert Zieske and DeWane Martinson; his special grandmother, Betty Bergstrom; and his cousin, Jeff Jungemann.
