Corinne J. Kahre, 82, of Wolsey

WOLSEY — Corinne J. Kahre, 82, of Wolsey, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron.


Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wolsey with burial at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.


Visitation, with her family present, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the church in Wolsey. Her funeral service will be livestreamed through www.stjohnslutheran.sermon.net.   


Corinne Julie Gulbraa was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Watertown, to parents Herman and Adeline (Markrud) Gulbraa. Corinne grew up in the Watertown area, graduating from Wallace High School in 1957.


Corinne married James Rowe in Wallace Dec. 20, 1958, and had two children, Toni and Jon. James passed away in December 1978. Corinne married Lester Kahre in Wolsey Aug. 25, 1979.


She started her banking career at American State Bank (now American Bank and Trust) in Wolsey in 1975. She retired in 2006 as head bank cashier. In her free time, Corinne enjoyed gardening, quilting, painting, crafts, knitting, sewing and working in her yard. Spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids was always important to her. Corinne was a member and on the finance committee of St. John’s Lutheran Church, treasurer and member of Wolsey Senior Center, and treasurer of Dearborn Township.


She is survived by her children, Toni (Bryan) Miedema of Wolsey and Jon Rowe of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren, Mandy (Dennis) Marone, Eric (Jenna) Miedema and Jabe (Abbey) Miedema; five great-grandchildren, Cade Miedema, Kenley Miedema, Addison Marone, Hayes Marone, and Marlene Miedema; and her brother, Harley (Judy) Gulbraa of Watertown.


She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Rowe and Lester Kahre; her parents, Herman and Adeline Gulbraa; sister and brother-in-law, Kalyn (Don) Erickson; and an infant brother.
