PIERRE — While Beadle County couldn’t break its streak of consecutive days with a positive case that dates back to May 16, only one new positive case announced by the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) was an overall positive outcome compared to recent test results. Adding in 34 negative tests and 18 recovered cases, which brings the county’s total active cases to 177 was a positive decline in active cases in the county.

Statewide, there were 33 new positive tests and 1,152 negative tests run in the state. The state reached a new low in active percentage, with 20% of the 5,067 total positive tests the state has run still active currently.

In their press conference Tuesday, DOH officials revealed that Link Snacks, Inc. (LSI) positive cases have now reached 84 total positive tests. Of those 84 positive tests, there have been 37 deemed recovered at this time.

DOH officials also stated that 11,532 individuals had been tested in the state’s mass testing of senior care facilities, with a continued ratio of roughly 60% of those tested being staff to 40% being residents of the facilities. While raw numbers were not revealed, DOH Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon revealed that less than 1% of all tests done in the mass testing had come back positive at this time.

Regionally, only Kingsbury County recorded a positive test, its second such test.

The Heartland region has now seen 337 positive tests, with 196 remaining active cases. Among the seven counties, tests have been run on 4.67% of the population.
