HURON — A crowd of a half-dozen Beadle County citizens were on hand to hear Highway Superintendent Merl Hanson present the 2023-2027 Beadle County bridge improvement plan.

Hanson presented the projects that are currently under contract with the Bridge Improvement Grant (BIG) program, though he did note that multiple of those bridges have been moved back.

“Federal money has held up a number of projects,” Hanson noted. “A lot of projects are waiting on contractors as well.”

After presenting, Hanson answered questions from the public present regarding specific bridges of concern.

The commission also received an update from Hanson on road striping within the county, which is scheduled to be done later this month.

Commissioners accepted the resignation of jailer Angela Brown.

The 2023 provisional budget hearing was also held and approved.
