HURON – Beadle County commissioners on Wednesday approved a variance request filed by Lori Rathjen and Lean Investments Inc. of Huron to allow three to four future buildings constructed at 1075 Lincoln Ave. S.W. to be closer to a property line than allowed.
Under construction now is a structure that will have space for four businesses.
The variance is for three or four additional buildings that would be located to the west of the structure under construction to be used for rental storage.
Commissioners approved her request to build the future structures 20 feet from the property line rather than the code-required 30 feet.

City commissioners approved the variance earlier. Although the property is outside city limits, it is within the joint jurisdictional area. Rathjen has said she has no plans to ask for annexation.
County commissioners also approved Rathjen’s application for a retail on-off sale malt beverage license for a business to be called Cash Out Casino and Vape.
Meanwhile, they approved two moving permits at Lake Byron.
One is to allow Dixie Ball of Huron to move a 27-by-60-foot modular home from Sioux Falls to 40461 North Shore Road.
The other is to allow Tony Tschetter of Hitchcock to move a 14-by-24-foot shed to 40486 South Shore Road to be used for storage.
Commissioners also spent time working on next year’s county budget.
