County commissioners discuss COVID-19 response

HURON — Beadle County commissioners met Friday morning to hold a second reading of the emergency ordinance put in place on Sunday. Commissioners approved the second reading.


Commissioners also approved the Bridge Improvement Grant supplemental budget for a total of $74,791. They also designated miscellaneous metal as surplus.


The majority of the Friday meeting was spent discussing plans for the county’s continued response to COVID-19 along, including, but not limited to, the split between city and county on expenses for the emergency response, tracking emergency expenditures by departments, addressing potential budget changes within departments, and reports from representatives from the Unified Task Force on activities from that group.


The county’s next meeting is April 14, currently scheduled for 9 a.m. at the courthouse.
