HURON — A seminar detailing the framework for Huron businesses to obtain grants from state CARES Act funding is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday on the second floor of the Huron Campus Center.

Hosted by Greater Huron Development, the program will outline the framework for businesses to qualify for Governor Noem’s $400 Million in statewide grants.

This free seminar is designed to help businesses understand the program and be prepared to submit their application during the 12-day enrollment window. The seminar will cover proposed rules to qualify for a grant, and examples that will assist businesses estimate the grant amount they could receive.

On hand to take comments and answer questions will be Senator Jim White, Representative Roger Chase, and Representative Lynn Schneider.

Businesses with at least $25,000 gross revenue in 2019, and experiencing 25% or larger loss of business from May to August, would be eligible to apply. Applications will open Oct. 12 and close on Oct. 23. Grants would be awarded up to $100,000 per qualifying business.  The program will receive final consideration by the legislature in early October.

Seating will be arranged for social distancing and attendees are encouraged to wear masks.  The meeting will also be available for attendance by Zoom video.  Zoom attendees can also submit questions to the legislative panel via the “chat” feature.
