HURON — The Board of Directors of Dakota Energy Cooperative is pleased to announce seven area students have been chosen to receive scholarships totaling $5,000.
To qualify for the scholarships, winners must be children or dependents of a Dakota Energy employee. Scholarships are based on academic record, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors and awards, adult appraisal, work experience and other factors. The Cooperative is proud to support area youth to reach their future educational goals by awarding these scholarships.
Basin Electric Cooperative Scholarships
• Blake Farstveet, a senior at Highmore-Harrold High School, was awarded a $1,000 Basin Electric Cooperative Member Cooperative Consumer scholarship. He plans to attend University of South Dakota to study business. Blakes’s parents are Clay and Jennifer Farstveet of Highmore.
• Erin Moncur, a freshman at Dakota Wesleyan University, was awarded a $1,000 Basin Electric Cooperative Member Employee scholarship. She attends Dakota Wesleyan University to study accounting. Erin’s parents are Dakota Energy’s Manager of Finance and Administration Mike Moncur and his wife Shelley, Miller.
Four students were chosen to receive a $500 Dakota Energy scholarship.
