HURON — Orville Chenoweth of Dakota Promotions, Inc. in Huron, has announced his departure as promoter of the state fairgrounds summer racing program effective at the end of the season championship on Aug. 19.
In a statement released Wednesday afternoon Chenoweth said, “After considerable thought and with mixed feelings, I have decided to call an end to promoting summer stock car racing in Huron. I simply feel it’s time for me to direct my attention to other areas of interest.”
Chenoweth added, “I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all the race fans, drivers, car owners and sponsors who have supported my efforts the past 22 seasons. A special thanks goes out to the employees and friends, some of whom have been with me since day one. I wish nothing but the best of luck to the next individual or individuals who are willing to step up and continue to keep the Huron racing tradition going into the future.”

The Speedway Motors Wissota 100 scheduled for Sept. 13-16 at Dakota State Fair Speedway will go on as scheduled.
