NAPPANEE, Ind. — Daniel (Dan) Wollmann, 69, passed away at Hubbard Hill Health Care and rejoiced in his new body when he met his Savior Sunday, July 1, 2018.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 21, at Hubbard Hill Chapel, with visitation at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m.
Dan was born November 28, 1948, in Huron, to Sam and Mary (Hofer) Wollmann. He attended grade school in Milford Township, graduated from James Valley Christian High School in 1967, and received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from North West College of Commerce in Huron.
Realizing his sinful nature, Dan accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at age seven and was baptized several years later. He attended Bethel Mennonite Brethren Church in rural Yale for 45 years, where he was a member and demonstrated his love for music by singing in the choir. Dan was married in 1969, and to this union two children were born, Wyatt and Daneta. He was a farmer and enjoyed working with livestock. In 1979, Dan was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosis and graciously accepted its progression to total blindness in 2003.
In 1992, Dan married Meredyth Hock, sold his cattle and moved to Nappanee, Indiana. He served as treasurer for over eight years at the Nappanee Brethren in Christ Church. Dan lovingly supported Meredyth in her volunteer and church ministries, and in doing so, participated in this ministry as well. He worked in laundry at Miller’s Merry Manor for 14 years, and later was considered the best grocery bagger at several Martin’s Supermarkets. Unhappily, Multiple System Atrophy Parkinson’s Disease, diagnosed only 16 months ago, ended his working, and progressed rapidly to his death.
Dan leaves his wife of 26 years, Meredyth; father, Sam Wollmann of Huron; sister, Barbara (Arlan) Jantz of Carpenter; son, Joseph (Rachel) Wyatt of Pierre; daughter, Daneta (Troy Ward) Wollmann of Rapid City; stepdaughter, Beth (Steve) Colangelo of Apple Valley, Calif.; stepson, Randy Hock of Lititz, Pa; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary.
Dan was admired by many for his wit, positive attitude, and passionate love for his wife.  His faith in the Lord was evident even through the last difficult weeks.
Memorials may be given to the Hubbard Hill Auxiliary General Store Fund.
Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee.
