AURORA, Ill. — Darlene Lang, 80, who grew up in Huron, died October 22, 2017, in Aurora, Ill.
Entombment will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, November 4, in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Huron, next to Lester “Les” Lang, her husband, lifelong love, and best friend.
Darlene B. (Weidauer) Lang was born March 28, 1937, to R.E. “Ray” and Hannah (Helgeson) Weidauer at Lamberton, Minn. Darlene grew up in downtown Huron. She graduated from Huron High School in 1955. On January 25, 1956, Darlene married Lester Lang, also of Huron.
After Les graduated from Huron College in 1959, he began a long and distinguished career in the pharmaceutical industry, which Darlene proudly supported by raising and caring for their four sons, while Les travelled continuously for work. Darlene and Les moved numerous times: to Minneapolis, Minn. in 1959; returning to Huron in 1961; to Tulsa, Okla., in 1966; to Mendham, N.J., in 1971; to Poway, Calif., in 1973; to Wethersfield, Conn., in 1979; to Barrington, Ill., in 1983; returning to Mendham, N.J., in 1989. Les retired from Parke Davis (now Pfizer Inc.) in 1998, and Les and Darlene eventually retired to Woodstock, Ill., in 2002, where they spent their time shopping, snacking frequently, and just hanging out with each other.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Richard and Harvey.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her four sons, Steven (Jennifer) Lang of Phoenix, Ariz., James Lang of Aurora, Ill., Richard (Ann) Lang of South Glastonbury, Conn., and Scott (Sandra) Lang of Geneva, Ill.; her sister, Phyllis Arwood of Huron; her brother, Arden Weidauer of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her brother-in-law, Dale (Mary Jo) Lang; and her sister-in-law, Carol (Richard) Demlo. Darlene is also survived by ten grandchildren, Christina (Lang) Hartman, Jennifer (Lang) Sheehey, Kyle Lang, David Lang, Adam Lang, Jefferson Lang, John Lang, Hannah Lang, Rebecca Lang, and Alexander Lang; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
