WAUKEE, Iowa — David Craig Zurbrigen, 61, of Waukee, Iowa, formerly of Huron, passed away peacefully after suffering a stroke, Sunday May 21, 2017, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa.
Cremation has taken place and as per the deceased wishes, there will be no service.
David was born December 20, 1955, in Mineral Springs, Texas to James and Roberta (Rowell) Zurbrigen. He was a 1974 graduate of Huron High School. In 1980, he graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Operations. He was united in marriage to his long-time companion, Brenda Boyles October 6, 2007.
David grew up in Huron and from his teen-age years until 1985, worked closely with his late father, James, at Concrete Products Co., a family owned concrete construction company. He then relocated to Colorado Springs, Colo. and worked for R.E. Monks Construction Company. In 1994, David moved to Waukee, Iowa and was employed by Team Services, Inc. until his retirement in 2007. His passion always remained in “concrete.”
David is survived by his wife, Brenda Boyles Zurbrigen of Waukee, Iowa; mother, Roberta of Rapid City, sister, Diane Schwanz of Debs, Minn.; brother, Eric Zurbrigen of Huron; uncle, Conrad Rowell of Barre, Vt.; aunts, Susan (Rowell) Chuogvan of Madison, Conn., and Roxanne Zurbrigen of New Seabury, Mass.; several nieces and cousins; and his beloved dog, Buster.
David was preceded in death by his father, James Allen Zurbrigen; and uncles, Robert and Milo “Jack” Zurbrigen.
