HURON — David P. Filholm, 80, of Huron, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with military honors by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
David Paul Filholm was born November 5, 1938, in Brookings to George and Charlotte (Smith) Filholm. He attended school in the Brookings area. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1959. He was a police officer in Huron for 10 years, and then a car salesman for Chuck Porter Ford and Prostrollo’s for 30 years. He was united in marriage to Carolyn DuBois November 27, 1982. He attended Riverview United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sons, Mark and Tom Filholm; stepchildren, Brian (Dolores) Wilken, and Melissa Buus both of Huron; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Douglas Filholm of Brookings; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Charlotte Filholm; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jim Filholm, Loretta Quinn, Genevieve Holm, and Geraldine Jensen.
