WESSINGTON SPRINGS — David James Von Eye, 69, Wessington Springs, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019, at his home in Wessington Springs.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, at Foothills Bible Fellowship Church in Wessington Springs. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery at Wessington Springs.
He was born July 11, 1949, in Huron to Gerrit Jr. and Elizabeth (Knutson) Von Eye. He attended Wessington Springs High School until 11th grade and graduated from Huron High School in 1968. He was united in marriage to Evelyn (Evie) McHenry December 22, 1972. They moved to a farm in Beadle County where he raised cattle and farmed with his father, brother Paul, his son and two grandsons until moving to Weskota Apartments South in the spring of 2016.
He is survived by his son, Kevin (Nikki); grandsons, Chase and Kade; brothers, Dan Sr., and Paul (Shari); sister, Marlis Evans; sister-in-law, Marla (Mike) Paulsen; uncle, Johnny VonEye; aunt, Henrietta Doering; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evie; parents, Gerrit and Elizabeth; brother, Ernie; and several aunts and uncles.
