DCI investigates Thursday Huron shooting

HURON — The South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will be handling the investigation into an incident Thursday, Sept. 7, in Huron, which led to an officer-involved shooting.

At this time, the information released by DCI states that one person was injured in the shooting, but no officers involved were injured.

DCI will work alongside Huron Police Department and Beadle County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the investigation, with the full cooperation of both departments.

After processing the crime scene, conducting a forensic examination of all collected evidence, conducting interviews with officers and witnesses, and reviewing all available video camera footage from the incident, a case report and shooting summary will be released to the public.

This typically takes roughly 30 days to complete, according to a DCI spokesman.
