De Smet cruises past Lake Preston

LAKE PRESTON — The battle for Highway 14 went to the De Smet Lady Bulldogs Thursday night, as the scored early and often in a 66-29 defeat of the Lake Preston Divers in Dakota Valley Conference girls’ basketball action.
Rynn Osthus scored 16 points and handed out seven assists in the game, while Autumn Wilkinson added 12 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs. Reyna Beck had five assists and four steals, while Raegan Burke had five boards and also had four steals. As a team, De Smet had 22 assists and shot a blistering 49 percent from the field.
Lake Preston, now 1-1 on the season, got 12 points, six rebounds and four steals from Ashlyn DeKnikker, while Lexie Larsen had seven points in the game.
De Smet, who is perfect at 3-0 on the season will travel to Dell Rapids on Saturday night.
