REDFIELD — Dennis L. Gerber, 65, of Redfield, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018, at Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center. 
It was his wish for direct cremation with no memorial service. 
Dennis was born September 9, 1952, in Bismarck, N.D. to Arthur and Betty (Dubois) Gerber. He was raised and educated in Napoleon, N.D. Following his high school graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a door gunner in Vietnam.
He farmed, worked on the Burlington Northern Railroad in Bismarck, and at a body shop in Edgeley, N.D. In the early 1980’s, he moved his family to Turton where he worked at the elevator.  A few years later, they moved to Redfield, where he was employed by the South Dakota Developmental Center. He retired after being hurt on the job and continued to live in Redfield until his death.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, riding his Can-Am Spider and just being outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Keith) Wittrock of Watertown, and Dennis, Jr. of Redfield; grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon and Zack Wittrock, Kevin, Kayla, and Chase Gerber; siblings, Jesse Gerber of Redfield, and Rita (Dave) Blocker of Mohall, N.D.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shawn Gerber; brothers, Kevin, and Mike; and two nephews.
