Dennis Harmon Sr., 87 of Huron

HURON — Dennis Lee Harmon Sr., 87 of Huron, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, at the SunQuest Healthcare center in Huron. 
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 8, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service to follow or one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Dennis Lee Harmon was born  April 3, 1930, in Huron to Julian and Ruth (Smith) Harmon. He attended schools in Huron. He joined the U.S. Army serving near the end of World War II. He was united in marriage to Clara LeBeau June 3, 1950, in Wichita, Kan. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Huron. He owned and operated his own auto body shop for many years.
Grateful for having shared in Dennis’ life are his six children: Rod (Signe) Harmon of Huron, Renee (Larry) Reimer of Woonsocket, Pam (Dave) Ferguson of Huron, Russanne (Glen) Ellerton of Mitchell, Helen Ganske of Tea, and Dennis Jr. (Bonnie) Harmon of St Paul, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Lauralee Slaughter of Sioux Falls, and Dean Harmon of North Branch, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
 He was preceded in in death by his wife, Clara on March 7, 2017; daughter, Ruth Harmon; grandson, Robert Ganske; and brothers, Donald and Darrell Harmon.
