REDFIELD — Dennis Ray Stephens, 68, of Redfield, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 17, at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. Family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m.
Dennis was born October 7, 1949, in Huron to Ellis and Lillian (Christianson) Stephens. He attended school at Redfield High. In 1968, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Diane Opitz November 14, 1970.
He spent many years of his life on the road, hauling grain and livestock as a truck driver. He was a proud patriot and member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Brook (Becky) Stephens of Redfield, and Kelly Stephens of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; siblings, Floyd “Ole” Stephens of Redfield; Shary (Jim) Stemper of Hartford, and Brenda (Tom) Svoboda of Schuyler, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Bradley; his parents; brothers, LaVerne Stephens, and Lanny Stephens in infancy.
