ESTELLINE — The Deubrook Area Dolphins took the girls championship and the Colman-Egan Hawks claimed the boys’ title Thursday at the Dakota Valley Conference track and field meet.
The Dolphins rolled up 192 points to easily take the girls’ hardware, picking up wins in nine of 19 events. Estelline-Hendricks finished second with 158.5 points and Colman-Egan was third with 87.5. The De Smet Lady Bulldogs finished seventh with 42.5 points
The boys’ race was much closer, as the Hawks ended with 126 points to edge Elkton-Lake Benton, which scored 105. The De Smet Bulldogs finished third with 100 points.
The De Smet boys were led by a pair of double conference champions on the day. Trevin Holland won the high jump, clearing 5-feet, 10-inches for the win and also soared 19-5 to win the long jump.
Thrower Koby Spader continued his dominance in the weight events, winning the shot put with a heave of 46-8 and tossing the discus 146-feet.
De Smet will return to action next Thursday, when the Bulldogs compete at the Region 3B meet back in Estelline.
