MITCHELL — DeWayne Erickson, 54, of Mitchell, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018, of heart disease at his home surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m., Saturday, May 26, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mitchell.
DeWayne Harm Erickson was born July 12, 1963, in Bryant to Curtis and Norma Erickson. He graduated from Huron High School in 1982, and graduated from Mitchell’s Vo-tech Culinary Program in 1989.
He was united in marriage to Sherry Reisig January 10, 1986, in Huron. He worked for 16 years at Graphic Packaging. He was a hard working man and devoted to his family.
He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses April 16, 1989. He enjoyed sharing Bible truths with others whenever and wherever possible. He enjoyed giving education in the congregation through talks based on the Bible and shepherding the friends that he loved so much using God’s Word. He found great satisfaction in volunteering at Kingdom Hall construction projects as well as disaster relief after hurricane Katrina.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Mitchell; children, Kisten (Nathan) Butler of Mitchell, Kayla Erickson of Sarasota, Fla., Keegan (Danielle) Erickson of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Dawson and Prairie Butler; as well as his brothers and sisters; and countless friends.
He was preceeded in death by his parents.
