ERWIN — Donald “Don” H. Walraven, 55, of Erwin, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family.


A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate.


Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown Saturday, November 21, 2020, prior to the service beginning at 12 to 2 p.m.


Burial will be at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dana Rhody, Rick Latt, Jeff Henry, Mike Lunsford, Rich Eck and Paul Mausbach.


Donald H. Walraven was born November 14, 1965, to Donald and Evelyn (Mason) Walraven, in Hawthorne, Calif. He attended and graduated from Castlewood High School in 1983.
Don married JoAnn Hemmer July 14, 1984, in Estelline, and to this union four children were born. He attended the automotive program at LATI in Watertown.
In 1988, Don enlisted in the Marine Corps and received an Honorable discharge in 1990. Following his discharge he began working for the U.S. Postal service where he was still actively employed.


On January, 2, 2020, he was united in marriage to Tina Nielsen in Sioux Falls.
Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion in Castlewood. His hobbies included: chicken farming, woodworking, playing pool and darts, golf, his motorcycle, hunting, fishing and working on cars in the shop. But most of all, Don loved being a grandpa.


Don is survived by his wife, Tina of Erwin; his children, Dana (Trevor) Grieve of Huron, Danielle (Adam) Walraven of Lemmon, Dustin (Anna) Walraven of Watertown, and Derrick (Devin) Walraven of Harrisburg; his grandchildren, Conner, Payton, Henley, Cohen, Paige, Gage, Leo, Lily, Ray Lynn, Tessa and Jaxon; his sister, Shelly (Sherwin) Dekam of Castlewood; his aunts, Lillian Kurkela of Estelline, and Caroleen (Maynard) Boeder of St. Cloud, Minn.; his uncle, Thomas Walraven of Minneapolis, Minn; and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
