OSCEOLA — Donald Hiebert,  88, of Osceola, passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.


His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Faith Mennonite Church in Iroquois with Lonnie Penner and Craig Jantz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.


Public visitation with some family members present will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Kuhler Funeral Home.  


Donald E. Hiebert was born Jan. 6, 1932, to Henry and Margaret (Ensz) Hiebert near Hillsboro, Kan.


He was baptized on Nov. 20, 1949, into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.

He spent two years in 1-W service in Baltimore, Md.

 
In 1955, he moved to a farm north of Yale. On June 22, 1958, he married Rosalie Koehn at Galva, Kan. They moved to Osceola in 2011.


He is survived by his wife of Osceola; five daughters, Starla (Max) Smith of Yale, Debbie (David) Schmidt of Horton, Ala., Susan (Larry) Nightingale of Pulaski, Iowa, Donella (Lyle) Penner of Swan River, Manitoba, and Becky (Eugene) Nightingale of Mt. Grove, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Van of Louisville, Ga.; and two sisters-in-law, Lorrene Hiebert of Osceola and Bonnie Hiebert of Louisville.


He was preceded in death by a 3-year-old son in 1965; and five brothers, Paul, Lloyd, Norman, James and Dale.
