DE SMET — Donald L. Wolkow, 75, of De Smet died peacefully with family by his side Saturday May 13th, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in De Smet.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday May 20, 2017, at the American Lutheran Church in De Smet. Pastor Randy Koeller will be officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the Osthus Funeral Home. Burial will be in the De Smet Cemetery following the services.
Don was born November 10, 1941, to Harrison and Mabel (Anderson) Wolkow. He was baptized and confirmed at West Bethany Lutheran Church. He attended grade school and high school in Erwin, SD, and graduated from South Dakota State in Brookings.
He married Beverly Johnson and together they had one son. In 1977, he married Judy, and would have been married to her for forty years this July.
He was a charter board member of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant Society. He loved farming, something for which he received many awards. He had a love for all sports, and was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. He also loved tractor pulling, NASCAR, rodeo, hunting, fishing, and his special antique tractor given to him by his son.
Those who were blessed to share his life include his wife, Judy; son, Devon (Wendi) Wolkow; siblings, Deloris Gilbertson of Arlington, Darlene (Ted) Crisman of Custer, Dorothy (Edwin) Holter of Troy, Mich., Delmer (Eileen) Wolkow of De Smet, and DeAnn Kruempel of Logan, Iowa; and four special granddaughters, Lexi Wolkow, Kyla (Cameron) Dunn, Kali Jo (Lucas) Wacker, and Libby (Isaac) Rinne.
