PARK RAPIDS, Minn. — Donna Rudy, 85, of Park Rapids, Minn. and formerly of Huron, passed away at CHI St. Joseph’s Health Saturday, October 16, 2021.
A private family graveside will be held in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery at Cavour.
Donna Lou (Vogt) Rudy was born September 19, 1936, near Manchester, to Mike and Ethel (Knowles) Vogt. She attended school in Manchester and Bancroft. In 1947, she moved with her family to Menahga, Minn., where she attended school until 1952, when she moved to Huron, was employed at Humphrey Drug Store, started her junior year at Huron High School and graduated in 1954. She continued to work at Humphrey Drug for two years.
Donna married Edgar Rudy October 10, 1955, at St. Martins Catholic Church in Huron. She worked at JCPenney from 1967 to 1988.
Donna loved to travel. She and her friend, Helen would take off for “parts unknown” whenever the time seemed right. When Edgar retired he was her traveling companion. They spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona and Texas. Donna had arthritis and Edgar hated the cold so the time spent there was enjoyable for both of them. They continued to do this until they could no longer travel. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Her family was very important to her. Having no children of her own she considered her nieces and nephews her “kids” and loved them all.
Donna is survived by a sister-in-law, Marlene Rudy; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Edgar; three brothers, Howard, Franklyn and Donald; and four sisters, Eileen Graham, Margaret Allen, LaVerna Jacobson and Baby Miriam Vogt.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kuhler Funeral Home.
