Donovan 'Don' Eden, 73, of Huron

HURON — Donovan “Don” L. Eden, 73, of Huron, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, February 18, at First United Methodist Church in Huron with burial to follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery at Huron. Visitation with the family present will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service to begin at 4 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home in Huron or visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Donovan Lee Eden, was born August 7, 1945, in Huron to William and Margaret (Caldow) Eden. Don attended Grant Country School until eighth grade and then graduated from Huron High School. Don served in the National Guard from 1961 to 1964. Don married Diana Thurston on June 1, 1968, in Huron and to this union two children were born, Charles and Dawn.
 Don worked at Snap-On tools from 1968 to 1972. Don started his grocery career working at OP Skaggs and Randall’s. Don’s true passion was being owner/operator of Farmer’s Market from 1972 to 1996 where he enjoyed meeting and greeting his customers. Don then worked at Northwest Pipe from 1996 to 2010. He was also employed at Advance Auto from 2010 to 2014.
 Don enjoyed coin and stamp collecting. He truly enjoyed fishing and hunting. Pheasant hunting with hunters from Kentucky for the past 50 plus years was something that he always looked forward to. Don was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Beadle County Sportsmen’s Club, and the American Legion. He enjoyed gathering weekly with his friends and former classmates at various restaurants in Huron. On the weekend, Don could be found at their lake cabin, in his motor home at the river, or working in the garden. Sometimes you could even find him in his shop working on projects.
 Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Diana, of Huron; two children, Charles (Geraldine) Eden of San Antonio, Texas, and Dawn Eden of Huron; two grandchildren, Donovan Eden, and Gabrielle Eden; his sisters, Connie (Eric) Nelson of Yale, and Judy (Galen Pagel) Eden of Huron. He is also survived by two aunts, Letha Renner of Huron and Ruth Siegenthaler of Plainview, Minn.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Larry Eden.
