Doris M. Kludt, 91, of Huron

HURON — Doris M. Kludt, 91, of Huron, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, December 2, at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron, with private family burial preceding the service in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be Friday, December 1, from 5 to
7 p.m. followed by a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron.
Doris Marie Kludt was born July 6, 1926, on the family farm near Iroquois to Henry and Marie Margaret (Asmus) Rieck. She attended school in Iroquois and graduated from Iroquois High School in 1944. After high school, Doris was accepted into nursing school at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1947. On October 9, 1947, Doris was united in marriage to Calvin (Cal) Kludt in Yale. Doris worked as a Registered Nurse at St. John’s Hospital in Huron and was a private nurse in Minneapolis. She was very proud of being a nurse and was always eager to talk about her nursing career.
Doris enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, baking, volunteering at church, singing hymns, and rooting for the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed traveling with her family and Hawaii was her favorite place to visit. She also enjoyed embroidery, counted cross, and sewing. She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and the Alpena American Legion Auxiliary.
Doris is survived by her four daughters, Susan Kludt of Bloomington, Minn., Shirley (Dale) Kogel of Pierre, Janene (Cliff) Jager of Savage, Minn., and Joan (Ron) Russell of Huron; six grandchildren, Tamara (Michael) Borstad of Appleton, Minn., Misty Bryant of Savage, Minn., Kristi (Jason) Berndt of Pierre, Nick (Stacy) Dammann of Snohomish, Wash., Adam (Melissa) Kogel of Rapid City, and Heather (Paul) Eich of Clear Lake, Iowa; two stepgrandchildren, Rhet (Dawn) Russell of Watertown, and Troy (Dawn) Russell of Albuquerque, N.M.; 11 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Merlin (Norma) Rieck of Mitchell; one sister-in-law, Gladys (Siegfried) Noack of Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cal who passed away unexpectedly in a farm accident on February 22, 1969; two brothers, Melvin and Edwin Rieck; and one sister, Margaret Kludt.
 Memorials are preferred and may be directed to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron and HRMC Hospice.
