DE SMET — Dorothy Henkel, 94, of De Smet, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Good Samaritan Center in De Smet.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, November 24, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in De Smet. Burial will follow in St. Pauls Catholic Cemetery at Iroquois. Visitation hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Osthus Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 p.m..
Dorothy Margaret Eisberner Henkel was born April 21, 1924, at Humbird, Wisc. to Edward and Helen (Matysik) Eisberner. She graduated from high school at Fairchild, Wisc. She was united in marriage to Walter Henkel April 4, 1945, in Huron. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in De Smet.
She is survived by children, Robert (Mary) Henkel of Carthage, Ronald Henkel of Sioux Falls, Marjorie Anderson of White, and Marilyn (Mac) Mendenhall of Brookings; brother-in-law, Clifford Pederson; sisters in-law, Vieva Henkel, Esther Pederson, Elaine Schlosser, and Gila Henkel; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; son, Richard; four brothers and four sisters; and one granddaughter.
