HURON — Dorothy M. Lundgren, 79, of Huron, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, with burial following at St. Martins Cemetery.
Visitation with her family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening at Welter Funeral Home with a Scripture Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home; or visitation, one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church.
Dorothy Marie Pollock was born on August 18, 1940, in Huron, to parents Peter L. and Mary (Reyleck) Pollock. She graduated from Huron High School in 1958, and attended Huron college.
Dorothy married Donald Lundgren at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Huron on June 24, 1961, to this union, three children were born. In 1973, Dorothy worked at the principal’s office at the high school until 1979 when she started a long career with USDA, Farmers Home Administration Office and NRCS office in Huron. She retired in 2000.
Dorothy was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, NARFE, AARP, Huron Area Senior Center, RSVP, Fair City Widows/Widowers, Huron Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and HRMC “Pink Lady” volunteer. She enjoyed watching her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s activities, spending time with family and friends, volunteering, traveling, reading, and attending musical events.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Robert Lundgren of Bismarck, N.D., Vicki (Allen) Conn of Mina, and Julie (Mark) Pomerico of Huron; five grandchildren, Priscilla (Nick) Dunham, Shannon Conn, Allison Conn, Ryan (Ashten) Pomerico, and Jeffrey (special friend McKennah Murphy) Pomerico; 7 great-grandchildren, Landon, Rydder, Royall Pomerico and one on the way, Gemma Murphy and Legend Pomerico, and Miles and Dru Dunham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don in 2007; a brother, James Pollock; and sister, Marlene Rodman.
