REDFIELD — Dorothy Thelma Wilcox, 94, of Redfield, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Redfield Care and Rehab Center in Redfield.
Her funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. (MDT) Thursday, August 9, at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hyke Funeral Home.
Dorothy Thelma Schmidt was born February 1, 1924, in Pierre to Fred and Minnie (Hinders) Schmidt. She graduated from Pierre High School in 1941. Following graduation she worked at Western Union Telegraph until 1943. She then took on an exciting job in the Air Force Signal Corp. She worked for the Signal Corp at Pierre Air Base and Abilene, Texas.  
She was united in marriage to John A. “Blackie” Wilcox October 27, 1943. The family moved to Redfield where she worked for KFCB and KQKD radio stations for 25 years.  
She was a member of the Methodist church in Pierre, the VFW Auxiliary, Womens Business, and Professional Womens Club.  
She is survived by her sons, John Wilcox of Redfield, and Dave (Glenda) Wilcox of Sturgis; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son; five half-brothers; and two half-sisters.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home.
