BROOKINGS — Douglas Currier, 68 of Brookings, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Sioux Falls.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 13, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Bryant.
Douglas Joseph Currier was born April 22, 1948, to Forrest and Marye (DeBauche) Currier. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Moeller November 6, 1965, and graduated from Bryant High School in 1966.
After graduating he went to SDSU on a football scholarship and then started his own plumbing business in De Smet in 1970. He most recently was employed by the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe while living in Brookings.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; four children, Barbara (Rod) Anderson of Omaha, Neb., Sarah (Bernie) Hanson of Sioux Falls, Amanda (Jason) Willmott of White, and Thom (Kelly Phillips) Currier of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Jake, Kaleb and Josh Anderson, Emma and Olivia Hanson, and Gabby and Macy Willmott; great-grandson, Noah Anderson; sister, Joie (Currier) Truslow; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Marye Currier; sister and brother-in-law, Sheryn and Tim Just; and nephew, Jay Weelborg.
