Issaquah, Wash. — Dr. Bradley Joy Wallum, 63, of Issaquah, Wash., passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019, at home after a long battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be scheduled in South Dakota at a later date.
Brad was born October 17, 1955, in Mitchell to Joy (Smokey) and Dolores Wallum. He began his education in a one-room school in Osceola, and graduated from Iroquois High School in 1973. He graduated with a biology degree from the University of South Dakota in 1977. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Sanford School of Medicine at USD, and in 1984, finished his residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He concluded his 14 years of his post-secondary education by completing his fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of Washington in Seattle. It was during his fellowship that Brad fell in love with the Northwest and made it his home. He had a private practice in Bellevue for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ascher Wesche; his children, Sarah and Mitchell Wallum; stepchildren, Matt and Grace Wesche; his parents, Joy and Dolores Wallum; and siblings, Tommy (Deanna), and Timothy Wallum, and Gwen Howland; niece and nephews, Lyndsay, Chris, and Marshall.
