Dream big at inaugural SHE Speaks seminar

HURON — The third annual SHE Awards takes on new developments this year through the “SHE Speaks” initiative that offers attendees an additional day of enlightenment and growth. Friday will highlight a theme of discovering and perusing dreams, featuring a seminar to be demonstrated by Marvie Tschetter-Grossman, Executive Coach and Personal Life Coach.
The seminar is titled “Become a Kick Ass Dream Manifestor,” and will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon at the Nordby Exhibit Hall. Tschetter-Grossman will share the process she developed of how to make dreams a reality, discuss some experiences that led to achieving her passions, encourage attendees to achieve their dreams through asking various questions, plus much more.
“The background around the topic is it speaks of what has really transformed my life in the past four years,” Tschetter-Grossman explained. “For me and for many women, I believe we forget what it is like to dream, because of a few things. When we are young we’re encouraged to dream, but as we get older we need to be responsible, work hard and pay the bills. Dreaming is looked at more like a fairytale and not encouraged as much as an adult. The other thing is, if you do dream as a woman, you may wonder where to put that as a priority. If you’re a wife or a mother you put everyone else’s dreams and needs before yours. So what happens is you forget how to dream.”
To stray away from dreams is an easy misfortune to encounter; however, Tschetter-Grossman’s intent is to spark that inspiration and hope back into the lives of those who wish to take the steps necessary to bring passion in fulfilling life purposes.
“I had forgotten how to dream and I had to work to figure out what it takes to make dreams come true. I’m going to share that process with the beautiful women that attend, of how to get their dream,” Tschetter-Grossman shared. “Some women have dreams in their hearts and there are some women who want something more that need to listen to their heart. They are going to hear a process of what it takes to make that dream come true.”
Tschetter-Grossman put it into perspective as she continued, “If I were to ask you right now what your biggest dream is, you may struggle with that, or if you do have a dream, you may not share that because of fear. So you have to listen to your heart and know that you were made for that dream.”
As successful business woman from Huron, with a passion for professional environment/business coaching and personal life coaching, Tschetter-Grossman co-owns Lankota with her sons, Lance and Dakota. The next steps started to transpire approximately four years ago, as Tschetter-Grossman moved forward with plans to build her business, Kick Ass Strong, to develop her coaching career and make room for Lankota to be successful at the hands of her sons.

“When we look at our own stories, we all show something that has a purpose in life. When I looked at my personal life everything showed that I was going to be successful with business coaching plus personal life experiences that brought me to personal life coaching and add value to that,” said Tschetter-Grossman. “In order to leave Lankota and allow my sons to be successful, Kick Ass Strong allowed me to start building an exit strategy. Coaching is what my purpose and my passion really is.”
The SHE Speaks program on Friday is held as part of SHE Awards to recognize women in Huron and surrounding areas. It takes place with a social beginning at 4 p.m. followed by the awards presentation at 5 p.m. on Saturday in the Nordby Exhibit Hall at the S.D. State Fairgrounds. The 12th annual South Dakota Women’s Expo takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. also in the Nordby Exhibit Hall, before the SHE Awards on Saturday.
The Women’s Expo is an event that women of all ages can enjoy various vendors, from shopping and wine tasting to health screenings and seminars.
A “Princess Party,” also takes place as part of the Women’s Expo activities, for “princesses” aged 4 and up to go enjoy making fun crafts, playing and more. It takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Women’s Building.
“SHE Awards has its own committee, that had a common goal when they first started to do another days worth of professional development or a seminar where women come to feel empowered and be inspired. This year we talked about it and decided to bite the bullet and plan something, so we came up with SHE Speaks,” Assistant Manager of the SD State Fair Division and SD Department of Agriculture, Candi Briley explained. “Marvie is asking women what their dream is, how to accomplish their dreams and how to find the passion to act on pursuing them.”
Co-chairs of the SHE Awards Michelle Chenoweth and Tasha Lee created the concept for the event. In search of a partnering event the pair approached the team in charge of the Women’s Expo to inquire about connecting the two events. As Briley explained, they developed into “sister events, that are a natural fit to be held together,” as they take place at the same time, side-by-side while complementing each other well.
“I think it will definitely inspire women and is a good kick off to the weekend,” Briley said. “When we all met to discuss the finer details, listening to Marvie talk about her topic was inspiring. It’s rare you sit down and think about your dreams and how to get there. Listening to her was extremely interesting and we were just ready then and there to have this event happen and get the word out.”
During the last hour of the seminar, a panel of past SHE Award winners will share some insights of personal stories, to allow different perspectives on success, struggles, and empowerment to be heard.
Following the panel will be a Special SHE Speaks Platinum session from 4 to 5 p.m., where the women taking part will have a more private experience to work deeper into understanding personal dreams, discovering what those dreams are and how to accomplish the desired goals.
“Everyone has different dreams to work on,” Briley explained. “There is a wide range of passions people have. Just because it is a personal growth seminar doesn’t mean it has to be hinged on your work life, personal, professional, everyone has different dreams.”
Tickets are limited for the seminar, while only a handful platinum tickets are up for grabs. For more information on what is available visit www.sdwomensexpo.com/tickets or at the State Fair office, where tickets for the SD Women’s Expo can also be purchased.
“The thing for me that I really want women to hear is it doesn’t matter how old you are, how rich or poor, or who you think you are or are not, you can have that dream and go for it,” Tschetter-Grossman said. “That is what this workshop is about, how to have that dream and how to make it happen.”
For those who were interested but unable to attend the seminar, Tschetter-Grossman will be conducting an eight-week workshop after the new year, “what a way to start off the year,” she stated. “With the new year comes new dreams.”
