BROOKINGS — Eleanor L. Brown, 91, of Brookings, formerly of Carthage, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at The Neighborhoods Brookview Nursing Home in Brookings.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage with burial to follow in Pleasantview Cemetery at Carthage. Visitation with family present will be one hour prior to service at the church.
Eleanor Lavonne was born November 20, 1926, at Madison to Elmer and Caroline (Sommers). She graduated from Franklin High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Max Brown  in January of 1947. She worked at Raven’s Industry in Howard from 1973 to 1985. Then as an independent cook for the Carthage Elementary School. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Bob) Huska, Kristi (Jim) Kramer both of Brookings, and Scott Brown of Isanti, Minn.; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Jim (Mary) Uthe of Castlewood, and Ron (Kitty) Uthe of Madison; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Rosie Haak, Alvie Uthe, Robert Uthe, Darlene Hackarott, and Donna Hupp.
