Eugene Kennell, 89 of Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS — SIOUX FALLS — Eugene Kennell, 89 of Sioux Falls, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, at Touchmark at All Saints.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 20, at the Miller Southside Chapel in Sioux Falls with private interment at Hills of Rest Cemetery.
Eugene Kenneth Kennell, son of Daniel and Laura (Schweitzer) Kennell, was born April 1, 1928, in Miller. He grew up in Miller and graduated from Huron High School in 1945. Eugene enlisted with the United States Navy in 1945, and was honorably discharged in 1947.
Eugene was united in marriage to Beverly Teuber at Watertown in 1948. The couple moved to Omaha, Neb. and began to raise a family while Eugene attended Omaha Bible School from 1954 to 1955. The family moved to Huron in 1960, where Eugene began working with the S.D. Department of Labor. He transferred to Aberdeen in 1968, with the Department of Labor as Tax Chief.
Eugene was united in marriage to Doris Murphy March 21, 1975, in Sioux Falls. He continued working in Aberdeen until retiring in 1984. He worked with Don Builders Hardware in Aberdeen until moving to Sioux Falls in 1990.
Eugene was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, and was a past member of the Elks and Lions in Aberdeen.
Eugene was a jokester and could find humor in any situation. He cared deeply for his family and enjoyed time spent travelling with Doris in retirement.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Doris Kennell of Sioux Falls; son, Brad (Shirley) Kennell of Custer, daughter, Linda Eck of Huron; stepsons, Michael (Candy) Crane of Sioux Falls, and Scott (LeAnn) Crane of Davenport, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Matt, Jerrod, Brian, Andrew, Sara, Stacy, Brian, and Samantha; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jenna, Erika, Ashley, Ethan, and Sasha; and many other relatives and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin, Jerry, Don, and Al; and sisters, Hazel, and Veryl.
