SIOUX FALLS — Evelyn Gladys Hodgson, 95, of Sioux Falls, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, October 14, in the Halladay-Peterson Chapel at Dow Rummel, 1310 W. Madison St. in Sioux Falls. Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 13, at Heritage Funeral Home, 4800 S. Minnesota Ave. in Sioux Falls. A private interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens at Huron at a later time.
Evelyn was born  June 2, 1922, in Esmond to William J. and Hazel (Girch) Wilkens. The family moved to Brookings in 1938, where she attended high school and SDSU, graduating with a degree in Home Economics Education in 1943. She was united in marriage to Merlin G. Hodgson (Lt. U.S. Army) December 1943.
The couple moved to the Hodgson family farm at Wessington Springs where they farmed until 1961. She  was employed by the S.D. Conference of the United Church of Christ for 22 years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, the Sioux Falls Rose Club, and Chapter BY, PEO. 
 She is survived by her children, Betsy (Roger) Wiltz of Wagner, Joyce Krsnak of Sioux Falls, Don (Merryl) Hodgson of Cumberland, Maine, and Alan (Brenda) Hodgson of Sioux Falls; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 
She is preceding in death by her husband; and brother, Robert Wilkens.
