PIERRE — Evelyn Thompson, 89, of Pierre, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Avera Maryhouse, Pierre.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 13, at Luze Funeral Home of Highmore. Burial will follow in the Highmore Cemetery.
Evelyn Mae Thompson was born December 29, 1927, in Osceola to Roy and Ruth (Whites) Noe. She attended rural Hyde County elementary school and graduated from Highmore High School.
She moved to Seattle, Wa. in 1948, and was united in marriage to Heyward O. Thompson April 7, 1956. In November of 1978, she retired from General Motors as an accountant.
She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Delta chapter for many years and also an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Seattle. She moved to Pierre in August of 2011, where she resided until her death. She made several special friends while living in Pierre, including Merrill and Karen Olson and canine companion, Colby.
She is survived by her special niece, Marlene Carroll of Harrold; nephew, Jim Olson of Pringle; brother, Gerald Noe of Bellingham, Wa.; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and sisters: Shirley Pullman, Doris Rubendall, and Donna June Olson.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Evelyn’s arrangements.
