SIOUX FALLS — Florian Eugene ‘Gene’ Linton, 87, of Sioux Falls, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020.

Public graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m., on Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls. For those who wish to attend, the family asks that masks are worn if possible.

A private family service will be live-streamed on First Lutheran Church’s YouTube link at 1 p.m. Friday www.youtube.com/user/flcsf.

Gene was born September 10, 1932, in Arlington, to Harry T. and Perline (Moe) Linton.

 Gene married Marlene Joan Barstead on June 26, 1960, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woonsocket.

Gene and Marlene celebrated their 60th Anniversary on June 26, 2020. Gene was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was a dedicated, life long educator, serving in various schools in S.D. and Calif. Gene was also a devoted member of First Lutheran Church, in Sioux Falls.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Linton of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Sheri (Steve) Tokheim of Chester; Shelley (Doug) Meyer of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren, Ryan (Kalina) Skillingstad, John (Cindy) Tokheim, Allison Meyer, and Shannon Tokheim; five great-grandchildren, Nitaleigha and Emmet Skillingstad, Mason Weber, and Charlee and Maverick Tokheim; two brothers, Sherwin (Pam) Linton of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Kelly Linton (Vicky Jaskierski) of Wabasha, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Perline; a brother, Faye LuVyrne; and his sister, Phyllis Elaine.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Augustana University Student Scholarship Fund or to the First Lutheran Church Media.
