FORT PIERRE — A Fort Pierre family with connections to Huron, suffered tremendous tragedy Wednesday, as one infant and two adults perished in an explosion, while two other children were airlifted to a Minnesota hospital with burns.

According to a GoFundMe page organized by Cindy Erwin, Trevor Hupp, who works at First Dakota National Bank in Pierre, and Kelsey Hupp, a nurse practitioner were each at work when an explosion destroyed their home in Fort Pierre.
The explosion claimed the life of the couple’s 6-month old daughter Harper, as well as Trevor’s parents, Bill and LaDonna Hupp of Huron.

Two boys - 5-year od Myles and 3-year old Royce, were flown to a specialized burn unit at a St. Paul hospital.

On a CaringBridge page, Kelsey shared Thursday morning that Myles has 1st and 2nd degree burns over 10% of his body, while Royce has more severe injuries, with 3rd degree burns over 25% of his body.

The page established by Erwin saw a tremendous outpouring of support for the family and had seen nearly $340,000 in pledges from more than 2,900 donors by Thursday evening.
