HURON – The driver and one of three young passengers in a one-vehicle crash six miles north of Huron Saturday night were flown to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries, the Highway Patrol said.
According to the report, a 2006 GMC Yukon Denali XL driven by Dale Knudson, 34, of Woonsocket, was southbound on Highway 37 at 9:17 p.m. when he tried to pass a red Dodge pickup.
The pickup veered into the lane of the GMC Yukon and Knudson applied his brakes and went into the ditch. The vehicle went over an embankment and went airborne.
The three passengers were all female minors, ages almost one, five and six years old.
All of the occupants were taken by ambulance to Huron Regional Medical Center. Knudson and the six-year-old girl were flown to Sioux Falls.
The nearly-one-year-old had minor injuries and the five-year-old had serious, non-life threatening injuries.
