MELLETTE — Gary Wayne Klessig, 68, of Mellette, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019.
His memorial service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ in Aberdeen. Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Peter’s Cemetery at New Richland, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Gary Wayne Klessig was born December 26, 1950, in Owatonna, Minn. to Francis “Frank” and Nancy (Broscoff) Klessig. He then attended trade school for two years to become a certified gunsmith and engraver. He served his country with the U. S. National Guard until his honorable discharge.
Twenty-three years ago, he met his lifelong companion, Fran Ness. He was passionate about fishing and hunting but also enjoyed drawing.
He is survived by his companion, Fran Ness of Mellette; sons, Corey (Miriam) Klessig of Dallas, Texas, Nate Klessig of Va., and Justin Klessig of Ill.; grandson, Alec Klessig of Dallas, Texas; and brother, Gene Klessig of Waterville, Minn.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Nita Klessig; and several aunts and uncles.
