Girls on the Run - Class of 2023

For 10 weeks, fourth- and fifthgrade girls met Tuesdays and Thursdays at Washington School for Girls on the Run, building confidence and friendships, learning the importance of standing up for others, and learning how to practice empathy, inclusion, and acceptance.
GOTR recognizes the important connection between body and mind. The program centers around fun and accessible physical activity, ensuring they are strengthening physical and emotional health, as well as teaching resilience through a trauma-sensitive lens.
Over the weeks the girls built their strength to finish a 5K. The Practice 5K was held at Washington School.
The GOTR 5K was held in Huron at Ravine Lake on Saturday, Oct. 28, and awards were presented in conjunction with the SHE Awards celebration. Each girl was recognized on stage at the SHE Awards Ceremony.
As the final week approaches, the girls have to complete a Community Service Project. They decide who they want to help and how they will do it. This year they are making gift bags for Cancer Fighters.
