MITCHELL — Gladys Kessler, 100, of Mitchell, died May 10, 2017, at Sunquest Healthcare Center in Huron.
Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 13, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Holy Three Kings Cemetery at Epiphany. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel followed by  a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Gladys Ringen was born February 8, 1917, on a farm north of Fulton. She was united in marriage to James Kessler January 16, 1939. They made their home 2 ½ miles east of Epiphany where they farmed.
She was a member of the Happy Mother’s Club and the Epiphany Altar Society. She and James moved to Mitchell in 1990.
She is survived by her children,  Angie Kessler of Sioux Falls, Pam Kessler of Inner Heights, Minn., Kevin (Heidi) Kessler of Brookings, Gerald (Joan) Kessler of Ft. Pierre, Carol (Owen) Angstrom of Stratford, Iowa, Doris (Dan) Ziegler of Spearfish,  Lois (Russ) Stroud of Huron; daughter-in-law, Betty Kessler of Luverne, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Gene (Jackie) Kessler; sisters-in-law, Ann Ringen and Rosalee Ringen; special friends, Mary Lou and Chuck Balcom, and Dave Mutziger; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; oldest son, Harland; and nine siblings.
